(Newser) – The House ethics committee is expanding its yearlong investigation of Charles Rangel to look at amended financial disclosure forms he filed earlier this year. Rangel, who chairs the Ways and Means Committee, filed the reports in July to account for $600,000 in previously undisclosed assets, reports Politico. The development comes as Republicans are ramping up pressure to oust him from his chairmanship while the inquiry unfolds.

Yawn...this investogation trash has been ongoing since Janaury 2005, and has only picked up steam this year because the GOP needs a win. If anyone was really serious about this, it would have been handled four years ago.

When we Democrats pat ourselves on the back about the whole corruption thing, we need to remember how the Republican Congressional win in 94 had a lot to do with all the Democrats kiting checks at the Congressional Bank. Partisanship without a line in the sand makes us all look rather ridiculous.
