The Los Angeles Dodgers, trailing by one run and down to their final out, rallied tonight to stun the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-2, and take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five National League playoff series. After Ronnie Belliard tied it with an RBI single off Cardinals closer Ryan Franklin, pinch-hitter Mark Loretta drove in the winner with a single of his own.

Left fielder Matt Holliday, whose solo home run accounted for one St. Louis score, is sure to be the goat after booting a fairly routine fly ball that would have been the game’s final out. By the wayside went a stellar effort from Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright, who allowed one run on three hits over eight innings, striking out seven.
