If you’re in the market for a new desk fan, tomorrow brings a new option: Dyson’s bladeless Air Multiplier. It’s “the most opulent, most eye-catching and”—at $300—“most ludicrously overpriced gadget the company has released yet,” Mark Wilson writes. “And I sort of love it.” The device sucks in air through its base, then pushes it back out something that looks like “a hula hoop on a stick.”

“It’s a mind-bending sensation to say the least,” Wilson writes for Gizmodo on sticking his hand into the loop and feeling the breeze. That said, the price tag is ridiculous markup even from a company known for its pricy, hip-looking vacuum cleaners, Wilson concludes, particularly “when I can get 95% of the experience for $10 at Walmart.”
