Paris Sues Hallmark Over Card

(Newser) – Perhaps losing her cool, Paris Hilton is suing Hallmark for swiping her registered 'that's hot' catchphrase and plopping it, along with her face and name, on a greeting card. The heiress is demanding at least $100,000 in damages for the heist without her consent, CNNMoney reports, but Hallmark says the $2.49 card is a legal parody of a public figure.

The card features Hilton's face tacked onto a caricature of her body. She's serving a plate of bacon and eggs to a cartoon customer, and it reads: "Don't touch that, it's hot. What's hot? That's hot." Hilton's lawyer claims Hallmark's acts are "willful, malicious and oppressive," but the company says that taking satirical stabs at the rich and famous is part of the biz.
