(Newser) – Madonna is still making headlines 25 years after telling Dick Clark she planned “to rule the world” on American Bandstand. She looks back at the past three decades with Rolling Stone, revealing her first “provocative performance” as a seventh grader, her life as a “geek” in high school, and her worst fashion moment—“the purple lipstick, fluorescent-green sweater combo.” The Material Girl also offers up her thoughts on today’s stars:

  • Lady Gaga: “I see myself in Lady Gaga. When I saw her, she didn’t have a lot of money for her production. She's got holes in her fishnets, and there's mistakes everywhere. It was kind of a mess, but I can see that she has that IT Factor. It's nice to see that at a raw stage.”
  • Justin Timberlake: “Justin is a brilliant songwriter. I mean, ‘What Goes Around…..Comes Around?’ Brilliant. I thought it would be a challenge to work with him. He's sort of a Cary Grant. I love him. I love working with him.”
  • Eminem: “I wanted to work with Eminem. I don't think he wanted to work with me. Maybe he's shy.”

I imagine her, hanging out in one of her many very nice abodes, surfing the internet and chancing across Newser...she clicks on the article about her RS interview on the grid, scrolls down to read the comments and laughs her ass off. Then she goes and spends a hundred thousand dollars on a pair of shoes, thinks about the comments at Newser and laughs her ass off again. For a few days, she continues to laugh her ass off when she thinks of the comments at Newser until eventually, they are forgotten like the nobodies who wrote them. No personal offense to anyone here, but seriously...you, me, all of us...we are nobodies posting anonymously at a web site. If any one of us was a somebody outside of our 5 mile world, we wouldn't be here posting comments on people with a much larger radius. Don't get me wrong; I am my biggest fan, but that's never parlayed into me being rich and/or famous. I never cared for her music as I have always been into various rock genres, but I can admit she had a remarkable career and is obviously more brilliant than anyone here to go from nothing to being a millionaire who can still get headlines. It really is ironic that people sit around on their asses behind a computer talking about how relevant someone like her may or may not be. If you're here reading and commenting, then she must have some relevance for YOU!

I'm finding a lot of people on this site are extremely ignorant, without culture and basically dolts. They open their mouths before really knowing anything about the topic at hand except the small blurb above where whey vomited out their inane comments.

She may not be at the top of the charts but her influence on pop music still can be seen today.
