"Thought police" in the media who have unfairly skewered Rush Limbaugh as a racist spoiled his bid to become an owner of the Rams, charged right-wing media maven Bill O'Reilly. Now that he's been dumped from the buyers' group after the controversy over his participation, Limbaugh should sue media outlets like NBC and CNN, which helped screw the deal, said O'Reilly. O'Reilly insisted his researchers could not find a single "racially insensitive" soundbite from Limbaugh, who has been pummeled with "false racial hammers."

This is "1984 stuff, thought police," said O'Reilly. "Punishing speech, even when provocative, is not what America is all about." Limbaugh himself said that people are trying to "destroy" his reputation by "tagging" him as a racist. "We are in the process of working to get apologies and retractions with the force of legal action against every journalist who has published these entirely fabricated quotes about me, slavery and James Earl Ray," he said.
