Reverend looks miffed after Contessa Brewer flubs his name

(Newser) – In a stunningly awkward clip going viral as we speak, MSNBC host Contessa Brewer accidentally introduces guest Jesse Jackson as, “the Reverend Al Sharpton.” When Jackson gives the camera a priceless you-gotta-be-kidding-me glare and corrects her, Brewer hastily blames the script and apologizes, saying “I know who you are Rev. Jackson, we all do.” Aren’t you glad we have YouTube to record moments like this for posterity?

I just gave an example of two white people who I would have said the 'same difference' had their names been brought up. Likewise if that did happen, race would have never been brought up as an issue. Too many people point to race as an issue when a lot of the times it's not. Racism isn't dead in this country, no, but I don't believe Sharpton and Jackson are doing much at this point to kill it either. They "cry wolf" so much these days to the point that they are instantly discredited when a REAL issue of race comes up.

Every news reporter has accidently called someone by the wrong name and one time or another in his or her career. I did it myself once a long time ago, and the person I was speaking with was a relative! I say no race issue here at all, just folks trying to make something out of nothing. Reply
