(Newser) – Roger Ailes won’t run for president in 2012, despite appeals from friends and associates. The Fox News CEO says he thinks he’ll serve the nation better in his current role: “This country needs fair and balanced news more now than ever before, so I’m going to decline a run for the presidency,” Ailes tells Politico. “Besides, I can’t take the pay cut.”

Hate FOX news? Donate to PBS and NPR. It's as close as you'll get to kicking Murdoch in the balls.

The Republican party is desperately short on fat, rich, white, conservative males as potential candidates right now.

How can so many people not see FOX for what it is? The claims of "liberal bias" versus corporate bias in the rest of the news media can play themselves out, but FOX is unlike all the rest. It should be compared with "Saturday Night Live", "The Colbert Report", or "The Onion", not ABC, CBS, or NBC news. Even CNN tries to be "objective" and MSNBC, be it biased or not, limits itself to things that have actually happened.
