But won't spill girls' Halloween costumes to Jay Leno

(AP) – What's President Barack Obama's most annoying habit? Practicing his speeches for hours in front of the bathroom mirror? Talking too much foreign policy at the dinner table? No—First Lady Michelle Obama said last night it's his tennis game. When they play, the president usually wins. "He beats me quite often," she added on NBC's The Jay Leno Show, appearing via satellite hookup from the White House. "That gets to be pretty annoying."

The first lady said Bo, the presidential pooch, celebrated his first birthday earlier this month with veal cake at a Rose Garden party. "We had a really sweet celebration. We had party hats." But she refused to divulge what Malia and Sasha are wearing for Halloween. "You need security clearance for that." Leno also wanted to know what she whispers to her husband after his speeches. "I usually ask him did he take out the garbage," she said.

And the girls don't mind, the president tells People , characterizing their view as, "Why would we want to have a whole bunch of people who we don't know knowing our business? (NEWSER) - In a recent iVillage interview, Michelle Obama let this little tidbit slip: Unlike, apparently, most of America , the president is not a huge fan of the Kardashians. Asked if any TV shows are off limits for the first daughters, Michelle replied, "Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians—when they watch that stuff—he doesn't like that as much. But I sort of feel like if we're talking about it, and I'm more concerned with how they take it in—what did you learn when you watched that? And if they're learning the right lessons, like, that was crazy, then I'm like, OK." More»

Daughters, mother join her on South African trip

(NEWSER) - Arriving in South Africa today, Michelle Obama met Nelson Mandela for the first time and said her husband was unhappy he couldn’t join them. “Michelle Obama certainly convinced the dignitaries she is excited to be here, and said her husband is 'pouty' that he isn't,” tweeted a journalist at a South African newspaper.
