Oops!...She Flubbed It Again

Britney's 'comeback' MTV performance tanks

(Newser) – Britney Spears' attempt to return to pop at last night's MTV VMAs may have fizzled, drawing boos from critics, bloggers and even fellow performers. Her fractional lip-synching to “Give Me More” left audiences unconvinced, while lethargic dancing and her added weight got bad reviews—except from gossip columnist Perez Hilton, who reveled in it. “It was so bad. It was painful. It was embarrassing. And I loved it!"

Despite her revealing outfit and suggestive backup dancers, Spears’ opener failed to live up to previous tantalizing performances, in which she stripped to a body suit, danced with a python, and kissed Madonna. MC Sarah Silverman spearheaded the attacks on the troubled pop star, calling Britney’s children “the most adorable mistakes you’ll ever see.”
