Aldrin Likes Nowak's Grit, Bladder Control

Posted Sep 10, 07 7:31 PM CDT in US Arts & Living

(Newser) – Second man on the moon Buzz Aldrin salutes lovesick astronaut Lisa Nowak's gritty restroom-less cross-country drive, telling Time: "I think Nowak should be admired for traveling across the country at night and not getting out of her car to put in gas or go to the restroom," he says.

While not excusing Nowak's actions, Aldrin called it "understandable for an achiever to fall into a trap." Aldrin also said it's hard for astronauts—who are only human—to live up to the pedestal they're placed on. "Returning to Earth was challenging for me," says Aldrin, who struggled with alcohol and depression after his moon mission.
