7th Severed Foot Hits Canadian Shores

Like others, severed by natural causes, but no less mysterious

Share

(Newser) – Another foot has washed up on a British Columbia beach, bringing the total to seven over the last two years. The right foot, inside a running shoe like some of the others, was separated from the body through a “natural process,” police officials tell the Vancouver Sun. Officials will analyze it in the hopes of identifying the victim. At least one of the other feet remains unidentified, though it's a righty as well.

Photographs of shoes that were on five feet that washed up on British Columbia shores over the past year are displayed on a map.

I'm in Vancouver this week, so get to read the paper here. The feet haven't been severed-they've separated from the rest of the body by natural processes, but the buoyant sneakers carry the feet to shore. All but one of the bodies have been identified; all appear to have been accidental drownings.

Could these be victims of the tsunamais? Dragged out to sea and drowned.
