(AP) – Dennis Hopper has been given a diagnosis of prostate cancer and is canceling all travel plans to focus on treatment. Manager Sam Maydew says the 73-year-old actor and artist is being treated through a "special program" at the University of Southern California. Asked about Hopper's prognosis, Maydew said, "We're hoping for the best."

We're hoping for the best doesn't sound very positive. Hopper's got style; hope he makes it through this.

Along with cervical cancer and lymphoma, it's one of the cancers that, diagnosed early, has a good treatment success rate. Obviously I'm hoping that this is the case for Dennis, although the tone of this article suggests otherwise.
