Video Appeal Renews Maddy Search

Message accompanies interviews by Kate McCann

Share

(Newser) – A video designed to go viral is an appeal to the friends and associates of Madeleine McCann's kidnapper, saying, "It is never too late to do the right thing." The video, released tonight, includes images of what Maddy—who was 3 when she went missing in 2007—might look like now. "This is about hope, it’s about collective hope," the head of the British agency spearheading the effort tells the Times of London. "I believe this message will deliver answers for us."

"We know that there is someone out there who knows who is involved in her disappearance," says the narrator of the 1-minute, 36-second video. "They may be keeping this secret out of fear, misplaced loyalty or even love." To see the complete message, click the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre link at right.

This kind of desperate hope is heartbreaking to observe. The odds of this little girl still being alive are slim, but who could give up? I don't know how I could remain sane if this happened to one of my daughters. Reply

And for those who would create this situation with their contemptibly selfish evil - "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord."

It's the not knowing, I imagine. To be relieved of the burden of uncertainty surrounding this little girl's fate by finding out she's gone...as ghoulish as it may sound, would have to be more of a comfort than living every day in some kind of static hell.
