Carey still embarrassed by her appearance in film

Mariah Carey, who has her very own director of photography tag along to photo shoots to ensure the lighting and frame size are as flattering as possible, still finds her dowdy appearance in Precious “humiliating,” she tells Fox News. “When I first saw the film I thought I looked hideous, I felt completely rancid,” she says. “This was such a liberating experience and yet humiliating. But I needed that.”
Carey also recalled her first less-than-successful foray into acting: “Being here is definitely a milestone. But I had one milestone that almost had me under this stone,” she says of 2001 disaster Glitter. “I didn’t realize you really have to be selective with the people that you work with and you have to have that support system and you have to work with people that you feel are geniuses.”
