Pelosi: 'That Was Easy'

It's speaker's moment in the sun as House passes health care bill

(Newser) – "This victory belongs to her," said a 10-term rep as Nancy Pelosi doggedly pushed health reform through the House last night. “As far as I know she never sleeps nor eats.” And though the speaker herself joked, "That was easy" last night, Politico notes that Pelosi used every tool in her toolbox to cajole, strongarm, and cobble together her historic 220 votes—a feat that eluded each of her predecessors.

"I think this is probably the biggest win she'll have in all the years she serves," says Rep. Jack Murtha said of his California colleague. "This affects every person in the country. Nothing else, not the [Iraq] war, nothing else touches everyone else in the country. This is the biggest thing she'll do."

And yes, your Newsweek article is interesting as it proves my point. The reason we are in such dire straights is that the economic engine of our country collapsed. And where did it collapse? The blue states, because there was nothing going on in the red states to collapse.

http://petroleum.berkeley.edu/... Let me spell this out for you Guava Jelly, of the top paying 15 states in the union (they put in more money than they receive) 12 are blue states. While the bottom 15 states who take out more money than they contribute, 14 of 15 are solid red states. Seems to me that if you redistribute someone's wealth that's called welfare. And the bottom line here is the vast majority of the states that create the wealth are Blue states and the vast majority of states that could not exist without "redistributing" that wealth are Red states. Here's a little graph that spells it out. http://petroleum.berkeley.edu/...
