Steven Tyler Quits Aerosmith: Band

Move follows missed tour dates and apparent dissension

Share

(Newser) – Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has left the band, according to rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford and lead guitarist Joe Perry, who have suggested that they're looking for a new singer. The news comes after a disastrous summer tour in which Tyler broke his shoulder in a stage fall and canceled many planned dates. “He has had no contact with me or the other band members,” Perry tells the Las Vegas Sun. But “I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave,” so he’s “quit as far as I can tell.”

To follow up my last statement, I will never respect Aerosmith as a true band without Steve in front. To replace him with a mediocre performer (in comparison, you know they would be) would end in a bastardizing of Aero's reputation as one of the greatest bands of all time.

Steven Tyler said last night that they (Aerosmith) were complaining about problems finding an insurance carrier and a ton of other garbage so he felt it best that he left since the rest of the group were attempting to place the blame on him for having an accident on a dangerous stage in dim lighting..... If Steven Tyler finds a new group then to me that will be the true Areosmith under any name they use, he was the driving talent in that crew
