(Newser) – Fireworks illuminated the rainy skies above Berlin as Germans and high-profile visitors came together today to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall exactly 20 years ago. President Obama unexpectedly joined the festivities—in a video greeting introduced by Hillary Clinton. "There could be no clearer rebuke of tyranny," he said of the toppling of the barrier, which was re-enacted with 1,000 8-foot tall foam dominoes. "There could be no stronger affirmation of freedom."

Ummm...he's too busy for this insignificant event, perhaps if it were the Chicago Olypics.... How bout the Vice President of the United States? No...he's attending a fundraiser in Detroit rather than celebrating the fall of the Berlin Wall.

He already used up his carbon allotment of jet time picking up his peace award and taking Michelle out on dates. Priorities, ya know.

Why didn't Obama go? Oh, it was celebrating the fall of communism, not its rise.
