(Newser) – Funerals for several of the 13 victims of the Fort Hood shooting took place today across the nation. Friends, family, and community members laid to rest Staff Sgt. Justin DeCrow, Spc. Jason Dean Hunt, Staff Sgt. Amy Krueger, Pfc. Aaron Thomas Nemelka, Capt. John Gaffaney, and Pfc. Michael Pearson. "Her smile would light up any room, her energy would envelope all of those around her," said Krueger's parents.

I don't think so - murder victims maybe, but battle casualties no. They were unarmed and I don't think that whatever Geneva rules that there are in a battle would classify this as military action involving combatants. Judging from your other posts, I'm guessing this is just a joke thing for you - but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt seeing as you ended with a question mark.

whatever. Human beings can still behave like human beings, what ever they believe in.

At the risk of sounding trite - I'm not really feeling the whole politic thing on this topic - just a very real sense of sadness that yet more life is wasted to make some kind of fucked up point. We can sit here on Newser doing our thing, but this is reality we're commenting on - and a pretty sorry reality it is. I don't think God has a diet plan or a dress code. I'm not anti anyone. Muslim, Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Sikhs, there's good people and aresholes to be found in all of them - and for most of the planet's population - they're mostly just seriously poor people trying to get through the the shit they have deal with every day. This shit right here is nothing to do with God/Allah/whatever name you use. Nothing at all. I enjoy the banter and insights I get here on Newser into views both similar and totally different to my own - but this is a list of names of people who were walking around doing their thing this time not two weeks ago - and it is a real tragedy. Another fucking tragedy in a week that seems to be all about remembering people who aren't here no more when they should be. I confess, I got some dark anniversaries going on myself - so forgive the morbid tone. Just fucking nuts what people will do to each other in the name of some shit no one is really sure about in the first place. If there is a maker - I'm pretty damn sure this isn't what was hoped for us.
