Stewart Pits '06 Giuliani Vs. '09 Giuliani

Rudy just can't decide how he feels about terrorist trials

Share

(Newser) – During last night’s Daily Show analysis of Khaled Sheikh Mohammed’s upcoming trial, Jon Stewart pointed out Rudy Giuliani’s blatant flip-flopping on the issue between 2006 and now. Though 2006 Giuliani believed that “America is dedicated to the rule of law” and “We are a free society, we have respect for peoples’ rights,” 2009 Giuliani says that “This seems to be an over-concern with the rights of terrorists.”

“I guess Giuliani from 2006 is saying that the rule of law is something either you have or you don’t,” Stewart concludes. “You can’t cover up the lack of rule of law with some thin strands of principle that you pull almost comically over giant, barren areas of… That was a bald joke.” Watch the video above.

Jon Stewart's takedown of Rudy Giuliani begins at 3:07. "Old Giuliani, I guess you have a point. Can anyone refute that?" Stewart asks. Guess who can? New Giuliani, of course.   (Comedy Central)

I don't think flip-flopping is exclusive to any particular political party. Every politician will tell you what you want to hear. Reply
