(NEWSER) - It made headlines for its salacious, possibly-banned-from-MTV content—but Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” video is also garnering attention for its remarkable number of product placements. “If Michael Jackson was making 'Thriller’” in this day and age, “he would do this, too. These million-dollar music videos have to have partners,” Gaga’s manager tells Advertising Age . Some placements were paid, but a surprising number weren’t—a rundown:

• Wonder Bread: Unpaid. Used in a sequence showing Gaga poisoning diner customers, because Gaga wanted to contrast the poisoning with an all-American brand.

(NEWSER) - Not content with entrancing Bill O'Reilly , Lady Gaga is planning her next pop-culture triumph: a blockbuster movie. "Gaga wants to emulate what Michael Jackson did during the 80s. Fox, CNN report 'too provocative' ban

(NEWSER) - Is MTV growing chicken in its old age, or was it all a big misunderstanding? Fox News and CNN reported that the steamy new Lady Gaga-Beyoncé music video (watch here ) for Telephone was too hot to handle for MTV, which reportedly pulled it Saturday. G, Beyoncé in a lather in prison babes video

(NEWSER) - Lady Gaga lays to rest rumors that she's mixed gender and replaces them with visions of masochistic lesbian love in her latest eye-popping music video. "I told you she didn't have a dick," one buff female prison guard tells another after stripping Lady G in a cell in the video (watch it here ) for Telephone. "Too bad," remarks the other. Gaga then struts her stuff in a barely-there thong (or just evidence tape) with little space to hide anything along with a chorus of cons and later Beyoncé, who kills off a male lover with the help of an über-vamped-up Gaga. Britney secures her comeback with seven nods

(NEWSER) - Beyoncé and Lady Gaga lead the pack with nine MTV Video Music Award nominations each, People reports. E! adds another notable: Britney Spears, with seven. The awards are set for Sept. 13. Elsewhere:

• One of the two police chiefs charged with breaking into the home of Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker’s surrogate has been placed on paid leave, the AP reports. Both cops, who are from neighboring townships, pleaded not guilty.
