"Diversity is a strength" has become the most irritating cliché in America, and was used to ludicrous effect after the Fort Hood shootings, argues Ann Coulter. Diversity "has never been anything but a problem" throughout history, Coulter writes in Human Events, pointing to Israel, China, Canada, Rwanda, and south-central Los Angeles as examples, and comparing diversity to cancer and pollution.
Liberals celebrate diversity "only in the case of superficial characteristics like race, gender, sexual preference and country of origin," but reject it when it's needed, "such as in 'diversity' of legal forums," Coulter writes. The kind of diversity lawmakers should be aiming for, she argues, is the kind that would mean people like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed don't have to be tried in the same civilian court as Martha Stewart.
