Tiger to Skip PGA in Bermuda

(Newser) – Tiger Woods will not be playing in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda this October, citing a desire to spend more time with his family, AP reports. The seven-time PGA Grand Slam champion will be focusing on his new daughter, Sam Alexis, and wife Elin Nordegren. Alternate Jim Furyk will take Woods' place in Bermuda.

Tiger's break will start after the Presidents Cup at the end of September, and last for 2½ months—the longest break he's taken not due to an injury. Organizers of the PGA Grand Slam are "disappointed," but "understand and respect his decision," said a spokesman. Furyk will face Zach Johnson, Angel Cabrera and Padraig Harrington in Bermuda.
