This Bud's for You: Pot Cafe Makes the Grade

Marijuana mist, croissants on tap in 1st legal establishment

Share

(Newser) – A first peek into the the first legal "pot cafe" in America reveals well-behaved Oregon patrons "sipping" marijuana mist from vaporizers and chatting amiably on couches. Not just anyone can wander into the Portland spot, which also sells chocolate croissants, notes a Times of London reporter. Smokers must enroll in Oregon’s Medical Marijuana Program, which requires a doctor's certificate confirming a user suffers from a medical condition like AIDS or Alzheimer's.

Tokers who obtain a patient card must also join the Oregon chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. After that, the hits are free, supplied by state-approved growers who document which strains are best at treating which symptoms. What's next? One user recommends Oregon prisons become the prime supplier of pot in other cafes in the nation. “The best growers are already in there," she notes.

There are hundreds of ailments that marijuana has been found to cause relief for. Everything from nausea and lack of appetite to headaches and menstrual cramps! The list is endless just like the list of products like fabrics, ropes, oils, and so much more. But, there are several companies you wouldn't normally expect to see leading the lobbying pack against legalization. The textile industry and the drug industry have spent more money on this than ADVERTISING!! Kinda makes ya think eh?
