(Newser) – Fox News commentator Bernard Goldberg is just so sad that Jon Stewart doesn’t like him anymore, and he made a point of saying so on last night’s O’Reilly Factor. Stewart slammed Goldberg the night before on the Daily Show for Goldberg's comment that liberals don’t “allow” Down syndrome babies “to happen.” Right, Stewart said, “In fact, Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded the Special Olympics because she wanted an organized forum where she could mock children with Down syndrome.” Watch both clips above.

Duh, I saw the question from your usual screen name, greg. But when gerd, on the other hand, states I missed something, I look for something I missed from gerd, your other screen name. Gee, man, I didn't realize you wanted me to play with both personalities at the same time. Look, I like your intelltect, but I'm starting to think you really were a hall monitor in junior high school because of your obvious penchant for bullying and control. I have not forgotten your bullying of a certain commentor because you did not like how he typed his comments, but you stopped doing that, so I stopped calling you on it. Yet, I have seen you criticize others for the same thing. Not everyone can express themselves well as you do, but that doesn't mean they should not express themselves the best they are able when they desire to do so. It's one thing to make fun of someone who claims superior intellect while writing like an ass or who is making fun of someone else's writing while misspelling words him or herself, but to jump on someone who simply doesn't communicate in writing as well as you do is repugnant. Your snobbery in that respect is not what I expect from a so-called progressive and I think you should be ashamed of it, quite frankly. --- Now, the problem I have with this hall monitor shit is that it is hypocritical as hell. There are plenty of libs here who do not contribute topically, but only jump in to insult one of the tighty righty's, yet they get thumbs up and are not flagged as abuse. I could name some, but you see, I don't have a problem with them doing that and I do not wish to bring them into this. Besides, their posts are out there so we all know who they are. What I do have a problem with is hall monitors calling down one side for only insulting and/or being vulgar, but not the other side and that is exactly what has been happening here for a while now. I do a little of both; sometimes I post simply to ferk with, say, dly, and sometimes I post topically. Hell, sometimes the topic/article reminds me of something else and I post that. I simply don't think we have to follow some fucking rules on making comments that were made up by pompous hall monitors and which do not apply to everyone, but only to the minority. If there's anyone here who despises repuglicans in general as a political party, it's me. And if there's anyone here who is willing to let them do the same thing the libs do when it comes to commenting, it is also me. Your inability to see your own hypocrisy in all this is sad. Oh sure, you posted something along the lines of recognizing that some posts were flagged inappropriately, but yet, you seem to be blind to the fact that some inappropriate posts come from the liberal side. Part of what makes me a progressive is my sense of fairness and right now, my sense of fairness sees the repugs getting shot down more than the libs for doing the same thing. People should be considerate enough to re-read messages before sending them out. The person in question appears to never re-read her/his posts and they are a mess. It is anti-social to expect hundreds of readers to try and figure out your comments when a simple re-read would fix it for all (and we're not talking a few typos here; that is par for newser's tiny little composition box). There is nothing wrong with me complaining about this. And your characterizing it as snobbery or bullying is just exaggeration. He/she didn't change, so now I skip her/his messages -- just what I said would happen. But we've had this discussion before. .................. Hall monitor in school? You're guessing again to no point. If no order is imposed on internet discussion forums, which I know you say this is not, then there will be chaos and LESS discussion, less freedom of expression for all -- conservative, liberal, independent, etc. Trolls will dominate every topic/story/room and extinguish everyone else. I don't complain about individual posts; I complain about trolls being tolerated and even coddled. But we've had this discussion too. ......................... I know you want everyone to feel free to post whatever they want. But what is the point of that freedom to post if no one ever reads the messages? Your liberalism is blind in that it has not taken the practicalities on internet discussion into consideration. Reputation keeps us acting responsibly in real life. Many write as if they are speaking, so a re-read is not going to make them suddenly go "oh shit, I just ended a sentence in a preposition!" Based on your opinion, the less fortunate in intellect shouldn't be allowed to post an opinion. Not every person who comments here has a college education. Some obviously barely made it out of high school. So, what...they should not post because they are not coherent enough for you? What if they are coherent enough for the rest of us? If we can't have a balanced hall monitor staff, we shouldn't have one at all. **** I'm seeing a pattern, too. A pattern of justification for silencing those whom you deem need silencing. That is why, if we must have one, we need balance so it is fair to all, not just one side of the political spectrum.

You know, for a long time now I've been trying to figure out the philosophy/ideology behind liberalism. As a libertarian, I have a pretty good understanding of conservative ideology, but liberalism seemed very strange to me... But now I think I know what it is - liberalism is entirely "need-based" - liberals don't care for individual liberties (that's what libertarianism is all about), they care to help "the lower classes" at the expense of others (through taxation, or discriminatory policies). This is not empathy - this is moral relativism.
