Rush: Gallup Counting Too Many Blacks for Obama

That's why the president's approval ratings are above 50%, he says

(Newser) – Rush Limbaugh has a novel explanation for why President Obama's approval ratings remain above 50% in Gallup polls: The agency is purposely boosting the number of black respondents. "Gallup has him just teetering on the little teeter-totter at 50% and they're doing everything they can—they're upping the sample to black Americans—to keep him up at 50%," he said on yesterday's show.

Limbaugh doesn't offer any evidence to back up the theory, notes Bruce Drake at Politics Daily. Gallup, for its part, calls the statement "a complete and inexplicable fabrication." Gallup's latest survey puts the president's approval rating at 53%, while other polls, including those from Quinnipiac and Public Policy Polling, have him just below the 50% mark.

It is not uncommon for liberal pollsters to count 60% democrats and 40% republicans in their polls. It happens quite often. Anyone who disagrees is uneducated or a liar.

Many of my family members voted for Obama are disappointed in him now. They believed Obama was going to help them put gas in their cars, pay their mortage, free college tuition, free health care and so on. Many in the black community sadly believed this stuff through gossip and or democrates saying so. Some even thought they would receive reparations within 2 years since Obama became president. It is sad that many of my brothers & sisters still cling to the victim statis and disregard personal responsibility. Black on black crime is out of control as well as out-of-wed black births. One point that is missed regarding Rush, he does beleive in personal responsibility and that gov't should not be someone's mama and daddy. Even Obama during the campaign said it does not take a man to get a girl pregnant but a man to be a good father and raise the child. ( A comment that the false-reverend jesse jackson disagreed with). I hope I see the day when a black politician runs for an elected position he or she gets elected not because they are black, but because they are the best candidate.

Look closely Alk. I did not say that blacks were solely responsible for electing Obama. Whites, browns, independents voted for Obama. One of the points I made is that many blacks who voted for Obama did so because they saw Obama as santa claus and because Obama is black. ( In reality, Obama is half-white, half-black). I said I hope to see the day when blacks will vote on a candidate and skin color is no importance. Vote on the issues, not because'' We need a african-american" in the house.

@chitrix i saw the point of hte article, i don't agree with the statement he made. my question was directed at a very specific statement made in the post and that is does Gallup have the neighborhood demographics. Rush is going to say whatever he can to ensure that he stays in the news and his ratings stay where they are because he is an entertainer and that is what gets him paid.

The samples could be biased. When Gallop calls me, I never answer the call. I've received two or three calls during the past 30 days. There is no way for the public to know whether Blacks are overrepresented in Gallop samples. Reply

ethnic groups always have a single minded opinion based on race. Blacks will back blacks before they will back a white. Asians for Asians or Mexicans for Mexicans. It happens everyday. Separation of neighborhoods is a good example, gangs, NAACP, KKK and more. Where not going to change. We are who we are. Italians for Italians, blacks for blacks and so forth..... Now for you race baiters here's reality; Whites differ a bit, there not always caught up in race issues but some fringe groups do lean white only........ My point is: Blacks voted 95% for Obama, do you think that race didn't have a issue in there vote. I think it did by a 95% vote. Only blind people are the most objective, and they don't get polled.
