Beck Will Host Conventions to Educate America

He's shifting toward political organizer, plans big DC rally

(Newser) – Glenn Beck is fashioning himself into a political organizer. Beck unveiled his promised "big plan" today at a Florida rally, in a letter to supporters, and in an interview with the New York Times. He plans a series of educational "conventions" across the country to teach people "how to be a political force," along with voter-registration drives. These will culminate in August or September with a DC march that will coincide with—ta da—the release of a new Beck book on solutions called The Plan.

“We’ll be looking for ways to get people involved in politics,” he tells the Times. “I hear people saying, ‘OK, now what?’ They’re calling their representative, but it’s time to get more proactive.”

cedarkey, the Nazi movement did not start with Dachau. It started with Hitler building a base of fanatical supports willing to believing anything the leadership said and getting them so worked up they are willing to commit violence against their fellow countrymen. I agree that just because Beck acts like Hitler in the early 30's it doesn't mean he's planning something like Dachau, but I fear that in his greed to sell more books he is going to rile up people with more guns than good sense.

Where did I say the nazi movement began at Dachua? Never said that. The nazi movement began in the early 1920's. And comparing Beck to hitler of the early 1930's makes zero sense. Germany in the 1920's was a beaten down country, meantime Hitler in the 1920's was telling the german people it was the jews fault for ruining Germany. Hitler even in the 1920's was calling for a jew-free Germany. The only groups I see in the US calling for a separation of the races ar the kkk(their numbers are shinking) the nation of islam( their numbers are increasing), Answer( They are calling for the dismantle of Isreal and blaming jews for the economic collapse in US.) Just a note, Hitler banned all firearms from german citizens in1935, deplored the hunting of animals, nationalized all businesses( which is fascism), and he was a vegetarian.

cedarkey I sorry if I struck a nerve. As you remind us Hitler was in power for a long time, and his time in power was complicated and his actions horrible. Beck does not have to match his every move to remind us of him. and really I don't think Beck has the will to political power the way Hitler did. But it still remains true that Hitler's rise started with inciting violence by Germans on Germans with religion as the excuse. So when Beck's rhetoric sounds like he is encouraging action then its time to ask if he is or is not like Hitler and if we need to calm the situation down before it leads to violence. You bring up all sorts of side notes but tell me, di Hitler use emotional appeals of love of country, morality, and fear of people with a different culture to incite violence? Does Beck? Did Hitler's words lead to violence? Will Becks? Should Christian Germans done more to prevent the Holocaust? Should rational conservatives do something about the rising threats of violence by extremist political allies? History never repeats exactly, but similar things do reoccur and if we are smart we can figure out which threads are salient. If I eat the same food as another person am I likely to get a similar job? No. If I attend the same lectures in collage? Far more likely. Is some one who eats the same food as Hitler likely to incite violence? What about some one who uses the same themes in his speeches? How close are the themes? How similar are the crowd reactions? Even if they are identical that may not mean much but perhaps the danger is great enough that we need to pay attention.

I even read parts of "Mein Kampf" in German. They pack a lot more punch that way. His lie was that the Jews were to blame for all Germany's ills. Clinging's lie is to use the President's middle name over and over, and to insist that he means no harm by it. As others have pointed out, reminding uneducated people that our President has a foreign-appearing middle name serves only one purpose; to drive a wedge between the President and the people he governs. And then Clinging pleads for diversity of opinion! Clinging doesn't need to attend any Beck schools, but he could teach at one.

Glenn Beck is always fun to watch or listen to. He's actually a pretty good entertainer. But like most entertainers he has about zero credibility in the real world. He can't inspire his followers with logic and intelligence, so he relies on fear and emotions- both of which are proven methods used by propagandists to alter a persons' perception of truth, even reality. (Look how Bush used fear to get us into a war to profit his arms producing buddies). It works and he knows it. If you truly believe he is a political expert with huge insight, then you are being played well.... he has a High School diploma and only one college class- about Christian things.
