Pundits Lie, Numbers Don't: Women Despise Palin

Former Bush speechwriter David Frum is sick and tired of hearing the punditocracy gush over how much everyone loves Sarah Palin, and, armed with fistfuls of polls, reminds us: Her fan club is conservative men, and women of all stripes despise her. “If you like Palin,” he writes, “well go ahead. It’s a free country. But quit saying that ‘the people’ love Sarah Palin.”

His key stats: 74% of all US women, and 50% of Republican women, think Palin isn’t qualified to be president—to 66% of all men and 40% of GOP males. “The longer they know her, the more they dislike her. And even more than they dislike her, they do not respect her. That reaction of dislike and disrespect is most concentrated among American women,” Frum rants, before concluding: “Whatever impulse it is that so excites Palin supporters, it is not shared by their wives.”
