(Newser) – One person was killed and three others seriously injured when a pharmacology student opened fire on classmates yesterday in the southern Hungarian city of Pecs. The university student was arrested after surrendering to police, the Independent reports. The shootings have shocked Hungary, where gun crime is extremely rare. Classmates said the gunman, a member of a shooting club, has a drinking problem and had been behaving strangely for days.

A candlelight vigil is held on campus for victims of the Pecs University shooting.

Guns don't kill people, members of gun clubs with drinking problems who behave strangely for days do.

What a shame. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. Pecs is such a lovely town, sad to see it hurting like this.
