Nader Considers Run Against Dodd

He's 'absorbing' reaction and studying grassroots support

Share

(AP) – Ralph Nader says he is "absorbing" the reaction he's receiving about a possible bid for the Senate and wants to first gauge the level of grassroots support before making a decision. Supporters have called on the 75-year-old Connecticut native to jump into the hotly contested race to challenge Democrat Chris Dodd, who's been struggling in the polls.

Nader said he's getting increasingly more requests from Connecticut Green Party members, independents, and supporters of Ned Lamont, the upstart Democrat who challenged Joe Lieberman in the 2006 election. "It really depends on what kind of momentum there is and how many people are willing to roll up their sleeves because I'm very accustomed to people saying, 'Run Ralph run,' and then they drift away."

Right. It's telling that Nader hasn't groomed someone to step into his shoes. I nominate David Sarota or Matt Taibbi.
