Second Scribe Sues NY Post for Racism

A reporter fired from the New York Post is suing the paper for racism, claiming that he was subjected to routine humiliation and Jim Crow-style segregation. Austin Fenner—who lost his job the same day as editor Sandra Guzman, who is also suing—says he was fired for being an African-American and complaining about racist coverage, the Huffington Post reports.

Fenner's suit charges that Post editors banned him from the newsroom for 5 months in an "act of utter humiliation designed to strip him of his dignity and self-respect." He also alleges that the paper refused a request from Gov. David Paterson to be interviewed over its infamous cartoon characterizing President Obama as a chimpanzee. A Post spokesperson called Fenner's accusations "totally false."
