(Newser) – Portuguese police claim they discovered evidence in the family's rental car that missing Madeleine McCann died of an overdose of sleeping pills, reports the Daily Mail, quoting a French investigative reporter. In a related development, a Portuguese judge has instructed British police to seize mother Kate McCann's diary, in which she allegedly complains about her "hyperactive" children.

Police have also been ordered to seize her husband's laptop computer and a stuffed animal belonging to Maddy. Portuguese detectives may arrive in England today to question the couple again. Police claim fluids found in the trunk of the McCann's rental car show Maddy ingested sleeping pills. But British experts expressed doubts about the reliability of such evidence.
