(Newser) – The New York state senate voted down gay marriage yesterday, but the debate created a big winner on the losing side: viral video darling Diane Savino, who's taking the blogosphere by storm. "Savino for President 2016!" Lindsay Robertson writes for Jezebel. In just over 7 minutes, the Staten Island Democrat reveals her expertise in politics, public speaking—though she acknowledges being nervous—pop culture, and relatable humor. "We have nothing to fear from love and commitment," she concludes. Watch it above.

Conservatives want government out of our lives as they always say. Except for the parts they want government in. Like marriage. Not like marriage is a big part of someones life or anything. Idiot Dems just keep letting the cons get away with the lies like that. Like letting them have the moniker "pro-life". It should be "pro letting the kid be born and then we ain't gonna pay to feed or educate it". The stem cell debate should be labeled between "pro-cure" and "pro-disease". But the Dems won't jump on it and the cons will continue with their lying slogans and label. And the mass of Americans, stupified from GOP education cuts over the decades, believe it and buy it.

She's great and I would vote for Diane Savino for President in 2016 but has there ever been an Italian American President?!! I wonder why not!? Well it would be great if she was the very first!

@easterner - Ha...nice...that link got a laugh out of me. But, with the right to marry comes the right to divorce. I've always said we homo's would do no better in this regard than hets. In fact, I think we would have a higher divorce rate, to be perfectly honest.
