Jurors in Italy begin deliberations in murder case

(Newser) – Jurors in the Amanda Knox trial in Italy have begun deliberations and are expected to have a verdict today or tomorrow. Knox and co-defendant Raffaele Sollecito face life sentences if convicted of murdering Meredith Kercher in 2007. Knox, a Seattle native, made an emotional appeal to jurors yesterday to not brand her an "assassin." Her mother, Edda Mellas, tells the Telegraph that "we will carry on fighting' if she is found guilty.

If she were your child, you'd want to do anything you could for her, especially if she was being wrongly accused in a foreign court. Its happening all over, American's strung up on flimsy charges. I would pinpoint Amanda Knox as a prime suspect if I were the police, but there seems to be little or no evidence she was Meredith's killer. The people who would know her personality best, are those she went to school with here, high school and college. Why is no one asking them if the Italian court has painted a fair picture of her as murderess? She would have a track record here is she was like this before the murder. You don't just become a murderer. Things lead up to it, behavior, attitude, etc. Maybe she didn't do the proper things after the murder occurred, but that doesn't make her guilty of murder, simply bad judgment. Who better to poll for bad judgment choices than college kids. What ever side you're taking it's a tough call. The one thing we hope for all of us is that justice will prevail. -- Though I tend to be a skeptic on that one for Amanda Knox or Meredith Kercher.
