Officer Resigns After Racist YouTube Rants

Posted Sep 15, 07 1:07 PM CDT in US

(Newser) – The Ohio patrol officer who made racially charged comments in homemade videos posted on YouTube resigned yesterday, the Columbus Dispatch reports. Susan Purtee, who was reassigned to desk duty after the videos drew national attention, will resign effective Sept. 22 and seek retirements from an unnamed disability. “Clearly, she does not deserve to wear the badge,” Columbus’ mayor said.

A Columbus TV station reports Purtee was written up for incompetence on multiple occasions. In the videos, Purtee, 60, and her sister called blacks, Jews, Cubans, and illegal immigrants “filthy.” She also accuses Jews of exploiting their positions in top media and entertainment companies. Purtee’s sister said they made the videos for fun and to reveal the truth about America.
