Street swings back from losses

Stocks posted solid gains today, swinging back from earlier losses as worries over sovereign credit faded and 3M gave the Dow a boost after being upgraded to "buy" by Citigroup, the Wall Street Journal reports.

  • The Dow gained 51 points to close at 10,337.
  • The Nasdaq added 11 points, settling at 2,184.
  • The S&P 500 rose 4 points, closing at 1,096.
