(Newser) – Some Republican members of Congress joined Family Research Council members in Washington last night for a “prayercast” asking God to stop the health care bill. The hour-long event was streamed live on the web, and the hosts said people in churches and homes everywhere were praying along. “The Bible’s very clear that prayer affects government,” said one co-host. “It’s the same yesterday, today and forever.”

Republicans who appeared included senators Jim DeMint and Sam Brownback. North Carolina Rep. Mike McIntyre, a Democrat, appeared by video message. The event ended with a 30-minute prayer, Talking Points Memo reports. “Give the kings sleepless nights across America,” the prayer read. “Lord, break into their hearts while they sleep.”

That's my point unaffiliated. Prayer involves god(s), meditation is a distinctly different thing. And since you don't have a wish list, i assume that means you request NOTHING when you pray? So why do you pray? And yes, my second sentence is geared toward Christians, but it could easily be adjusted for any other religion -does all include women w/o burkas, etc.. The point is that those that are more tolerant in religion will be considered 'bad' members of that religion. For instance, unless you CONDEMN homosexuality, you're a bad Christian. That's the thing. I'm sure you can find any number or churchs, temples, mosques, synagogues, etc. that are riddled with people ready to tell you a better to be a christian/muslim/-blank-. And I was going to say, if you consider yourself a different type of Christians, and you DON'T recognize the type of religious person I speak of, that would lead me to believe you are one. It's the equivalent of a cop saying there are no crooked cops; chases are the cop that responds like that and takes defense IS a crooked cop.

Oh don't give me the catholic line of BS. "God is punishing you because he loves you". Even if there was a god that line of thinking is absolutely erroneous.
