OJ Simpson has been jailed without bail on six felony charges after a sports memorabilia collector told police that the scandal-prone football star participated in an armed robbery in his Vegas hotel room. If convicted, Simpson could face up to 30 years in prison on each of several counts of armed robbery. Police said Simpson, 60, was cooperative at his booking last night; a court date was set for Thursday.
OJ's attorney said the case against him was weak. "We believe it is an extremely defensible case based on conflicting witness statements, flip-flopping by witnesses and witnesses making deals with the government to flip." he told the AP. OJ dismissed the charges yesterday before the arrest. "I'm OJ Simpson," he told the Los Angeles Times. "How am I going to rob somebody and get away with it?”
