(Newser) – A wacky lip sync video at a Washington high school has become a YouTube hit. The video, filmed at Shorewood High School, at first looks like a straight-forward—though impressive—student music creation involving most of the school. But the crowds around the various singers seem to be performing strange feats of magic as paper airplanes, cards and pom poms fly back into their hands. That's because the entire video was filmed, in one take, backwards.

To work, singers has to learn the featured song, Hall & Oates' You Make My Dreams Come True, backwards, so they could mouth the words correctly. A student sounds like a Martian might as he recites the reversed syllables for a local news station. The video was made by a film class in response to a challenge film by a rival high school featuring Outkast's song Hey Ya. But that song was lip-synched the old-fashioned way.
