(Newser) – A US-born radical cleric is alive and well following reports he may have been killed in a Yemeni airstrike against suspected al-Qaeda hideouts, friends and relatives said today. The government said Anwar al-Awlaki, a mentor to the shooter in last month's massacre at Fort Hood, Texas, was possibly among some 30 militants killed yesterday; a friend of al-Awlaki tells the AP he was not among those killed.
