Dole Recalls Lettuce in E. Coli Scare

Posted Sep 18, 07 5:36 AM CDT in Science & Health US    Editor's Choice

(Newser) – Dole recalled bags of salad yesterday after some of the lettuce tested positive for E. coli in Canada. The bags of Hearts Delight salad were sold throughout the US and Canada and had an expiration date of Sept. 19. There have been no reports of illness, and Dole officials said they're working with US and Canadian health agencies to track any potential problems.

The recall comes a day after Canadian health officials warned people not to eat the salad mix, which was picked in California, Colorado and Ohio, and processed in Ohio. The bags are stamped with production codes A24924A or A24924B. Last year, three people died after eating bagged spinach from California that tested postive for E. coli.
