Senator Sues God for Disasters

Cites 'harmful activities' by 'omnipresent defendant'

(Newser) – A Nebraska state senator has filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction against God to "cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats." God is accused of causing "egregious earthquakes and horrendous hurricanes," among several other horrors. Politician Ernie Chambers says he's simply trying to make a point that anyone can sue anyone, which he thinks is a good thing.

The suit is part of his battle against Nebraska legislators to limit lawsuits. He argues that the Douglas County courthouse where he filed his suit has jurisdiction in the case because the "defendant, being omnipresent, is personally present in Douglas County." God, snarks one blogger, didn't respond to a prayer for comment.
