'00s Biggest Celeb Scandals

Jon and Kate Gosselin haven't always dominated the headlines

(Newser) – You may have forgotten all about it, thanks to the neverending coverage of the Gosselin divorce or Tiger Woods’ mistresses, but there was a time—in the last 10 years—when Winona Ryder’s shoplifting was the story of the hour. The Frisky lists the top 10 celebrity scandals of the decade:

  • R. Kelly: He was acquitted on charges of sex with a minor and child porn, but that didn’t make the idea of him making a sex tape with a 14-year-old go away.
  • Michael Jackson: In 2003, Jackson was accused—again—of child molestation, resulting in the trial of the decade.

  • Paris Hilton: There are almost too many to mention—her 2003 sex tape, her DUI, her stint in jail, her inexplicable fame…
  • Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson: Janet’s Super Bowl nip slip turned the phrase “wardrobe malfunction” into a household word.
  • Martha Stewart: The domestic queen spent five months in jail in 2004.

The rich and famous can do what they want to do and its covered up or overlooked but let a poor person in this country committ a crime or for that matter, get accussed of a one...they're thrown under the jail w/o a key! DOUBLE STANDARD IS WHAT IT'S CALLED!
