Dick Cheney's a Liar

'Rottweiler in Winter' tries to use terror attack to score political points

(Newser) – It’s not even 2010, and Eugene Robinson is already breaking his resolution to ignore Dick Cheney, to treat his ramblings like “the pearls of wisdom one hears from homeless people sitting in bus shelters.” But his latest outburst against President Obama was so shrill, so full of lies, that he couldn’t let it go, he writes in the Washington Post. Cheney starts with a flat-out falsehood, saying that “President Obama is trying to pretend we are not at war.”

In reality, Obama’s often spoken of—and used force to wage—our war on terrorist networks. Cheney goes on to bash him for releasing “hard-core al-Qaeda-trained terrorists” from Guantanamo. Never mind that the Yemeni al-Qaeda network that planned the attack boasts exactly two ex-detainees—both released by Bush. From there, Cheney devolves into a rant about Obama’s supposed restructuring of American society, which is so crazy he’s either “feeding the fantasies of the paranoid right or has actually joined the tea-party fringe.”

Perhaps - we really don't know. We do know, however, that the 2 stories Obama tells about the man and woman who lost their fight against cancer due to lack of health insurance were treated and are now very much alive. He's been told this yet continues to use the lie in his dog and pony show. I find it offensive that our president does this. Where is your outrage?

@Z - Agreed! Dawgs is more centrist than he lets on...because he does get pissed at us for generalizing about the right, he may not always come across that way. Like the rest of us, he generalizes when he's pissed. If every republican were more like Dawgs, we wouldn't have the divide we have in this country. Of course, I'm sure Dawgs sees it as, if more libs were like him, we wouldn't have this divide (right, D? ;-)
