(Newser) – Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church has hit a major fundraising speedbump and has asked members to help out with almost $1 million by tomorrow. Warren described the situation yesterday in an “urgent letter unlike any I've written in 30 years.” Last weekend, “our total offerings were less than half of what we normally receive—leaving us $900,000 in the red for the year, unless you help make up the difference today and tomorrow.” The church usually pulls in about $600,000 on a non-holiday weekend, notes ABC News.

$900K? That's funny, I thought most luxury cars had gone down in price this year.

As atheists go, Sam Harris is my favorite. I view him as more anti-mainstream religion than atheist although I know he is an atheist. And his views on consciousness reflect an open mind, which is the real and biggest problem with most believers *and* non-believers....
