(Newser) – Montana's highest court today cleared the way for doctors to help their terminally ill patients commit suicide. Physicians who do so can't be prosecuted, says the ruling, which makes Montana the third state to legalize the practice after Oregon and Washington, notes Bloomberg. “We find nothing in Montana Supreme Court precedent or Montana statutes indicating that physician aid in dying is against public policy,” says the state's Supreme Court.

(Montana law) explicitly shields physicians from liability for acting in accordance with a patient’s end-of life wishes, even if the physician must actively pull the plug on a patient’s ventilator. - Montana Supreme Court

Hypethang, the point of which you speak has to be "passed" several times before the suicide is assisted. One cannot just wake up one day and say, I think I'll kill myself legally and kindly. Those who commit suicide because they have mental problems will continue to commit suicide all by themselves. Those who are assisted are not the mental ones. They are the thoughtful ones who undergo a lengthy process in order to win the right to assisted suicide. Besides, only your god punishes those who commit suicide. My "god" doesn't, so fuck you and the god you rode in on.....
