Son Replaces Dad As Drake Head Coach

Posted Mar 22, 07 9:52 AM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Keno Davis will replace his father, Dr. Tom Davis, who is retiring as Drake University’s men’s basketball head coach. The elder Davis had coached Division I basketball for 32 seasons, the last four at Drake. Earlier, at Lafayette, he gave University of Maryland men’s basketball Head Coach Gary Williams his big coaching break.

Keno Davis is familiar with the Drake basketball scene, as he assisted his father all four years. The new head coach also served as an assistant at Southern Indiana under Bruce Pearl, currently head coach at the University of Tennessee. His father will remain at the university as a special assistant to the athletic director.
