Loleini Tonga spoke out for the first time since fiancé Chris Henry died Dec. 16, telling ESPN the Cincinnati Bengals’ player jumped out of the back of her pickup truck. “I wasn’t going fast. Maybe he was scared because he saw someone calling the police,” Tonga says, disputing rumors that Henry intended to commit suicide: “As far as him wanting to end his life, no.”

“He had too much going on,” she continues. “He wouldn't want to be gone away from his kids. He loves his kids.” She admits the couple had a fight—but denies it was over wedding plans—before she left her parents’ home, adding that she wanted to stop when Henry jumped in the back, “but there’s nowhere to stop on that road.” Watch a clip here.
