(Newser) – An Ohio man who loudly claimed he wanted "to kill all the Jews” on a Delta flight readying to take off from Miami was removed from the airplane yesterday. Mansor Mohammad Asad, 43, who was traveling with his sister, girlfriend, and daughter, is an American citizen, though after a pre-flight beer he claimed he was a Palestinian and uttered his threats. Later, during a confrontation with police, he got Tasered twice.

His son, who was not on the plane, says his father is bipolar and has been institutionalized. “It's not what it's made out to be,” he tells the Miami Herald. “Someone had to have pushed his buttons. I don't know, I couldn't explain honestly. Of course he's not a terrorist.” During the encounter with police, Asad apparently charged at one officer and said, “I’ve gotten into fights with cops in Ohio and broke their arms in three places. I’ve broken skulls, too!” He also suggested one officer “go back to Africa, you white racist cop!”
