Bill Had Long-Term Affair During Hillary's Campaign

Her 'war room' feared disclosure at any time

(Newser) – Harry Reid's comment about candidate Obama not having a "Negro dialect" is grabbing the headlines today, but an upcoming book on the 2008 election has other salacious tidbits. Marc Ambinder got an advance copy of Game Change and has highlights at the Atlantic:

  • Bill Clinton was involved in a long-term affair, and Hillary's campaign set up a "war room within a war room" to deal with the feared disclosure and all problems related to Bill's "libido." The book doesn't identify the woman.

  • John and Elizabeth Edwards fought frequently and dramatically in front of staffers over his affair, which had yet to be made public. At least three staffers quit. Elizabeth once tore her blouse, "exposing herself" and ordering John to "look at me."
  • John McCain aide Steve Schmidt told Sarah Palin's foreign policy tutors, "You guys have a lot of work to do. She doesn't know anything."

There is nothing wrong with the word Negro. It's just old fashioned. No matter what word is used it will eventually take on derogatory meaning until the group in question achieves social equality. I work with the Developmentally Disabled. Before that they were called Mentally Retarded which replaced such terms as Moron. The people with whom I work don't like ANY of those terms because it means that they are different and "less than" others. Same thing with racial slurs. We say "the N word" now instead of saying the n word. African American sounds stilted. I say "black," young "blacks" say "my niggah" to their friends, appropriating "the N word" and taking some of the sting out of it, but all these terms, politically correct or not, serve to separate and classify people and designate better and worse. Until we get to a world where people are people and having a bi-racial president doesn't scare the s**t out of grown men, there will always be words that sting, right after they are no longer politically correct. Changing the word does not change the thing. The map is not the world. I wish for a world where equal opportunity is real, not just a phrase.

I don't think Carter or Truman did. But all the rest as far as the info goes back. Going farther back, I don't see how Taft could have since he probably couldn't reach his wee-wee.
